Job Description

We are looking for a champion to help us disrupt the Game Tech industry. If you are looking to work in a dynamic, forward-thinking organization, then this could be the role of a lifetime for you! Gears of Leo is now looking for a leader with great communication skills who is used to driving technical projects forward. You will be working directly with our Head of Development in order to build the best development organization in the industry.  

As Development Manager, you will lead and inspire technical teams, working together with other development managers, to achieve challenging growth targets and deliver customer excellence. You will also work closely with the Software Development, Architecture and Product Management teams to identify blind spots in our current organization as well as where we can improve. Our ideal candidate has a systematic and well-organized work manner, which means that you define clear priorities; plan ahead, set realistic goals, and meet deadlines.

What you'll need to succeed

You are a strong leader with a strategic mindset, who has the ability to interact with a range of key stakeholders. You have proven experience leading successful and happy technical teams, in addition to an excellent technical background.

Your areas of responsibility

  • Responsibility for KPIs to be able to follow up on throughput.

  • Create an effective and productive environment for the teams using LeoCulture as a framework.

  • Encourage a fun, healthy, collaborative engineering culture and stimulate intrinsic motivator factors such as autonomy.

  • Develop and coach direct reporting co-workers, set up and plan individual development plan and salary reviews.

  • Create a safe-fail environment for Leo software engineers.

  • Agile coaching and practice servant leadership, make sure to celebrate success and sometimes failure.

  • Ensure knowledge sharing and training amongst the team and team members.

  • Sign-off on recruitments in your teams together with Team leads.

  • On-boarding of new Team leads.

  • Take active part of and contribute to the DM group.

  • Based on company priority deliver company initiatives in time and with expected quality.

  • Encourage innovation and an inspiring development environment.

  • You have a fantastic proven track record of being a positive and engaging leader

  • Have experience of working with diverse teams in an agile environment

  • Great collaborator and communicator

  • Have the ability to look at the big picture and plan strategically

  • Inspiring, social and team-oriented

  • You are a leader, not a manager

  • You have experience in leading technical teams as well as setting up and maintaining development operations

  • You have a technical background covering development and modern web-based infrastructure

  • You are both analytical and action-oriented. Keeping deadlines is a matter of pride for you.

  • You are comfortable with responsibilities and able to make decisions on your own.

  • You feel accountability and solve problems that might not even be yours.
