Job Description

We are looking for motivated and experienced individuals to join our team as an Electrical Chargehand. Reporting to the Assistant Project Manager, the selected candidates’ main duties and responsibilities will consist of:

  • Oversee and manage a team of electrical installers on projects;
  • Co-ordinate and supervise the day-to-day operation and distribution of work force;
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate electrical installations;
  • Read and interpret electrical and technical diagrams;
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide guidance to the team in resolving problems;
  • Ensuring that the quality of the work is up to standard, test and certify installations;
  • Assist the Assistant Project Managers to develop work schedules and ensure timely project completion;
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting professional growth and development;
  • Plan and coordinate with storekeeper and/or Assistant Project Manager to ensure the availability of necessary materials and equipment;
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards;
  • Ensure that subordinates’ performance is assessed on a regular basis;
  • Responsible for distribution and usage of tools within the team;
  • Bring up to the attention of the Assistant Project Manager of any missing material that is required for the job that your team is working on, inaccessibility of site, limited resources, any H&S concerns and other issues that hinder the productivity of work;
  • Be very safety conscious and provide safety leadership for assigned workers;

Qualifications

The ideal applicant for this post should:

  • Possess relevant qualifications which include the Electrical Licence A & B as a minimum;
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Be computer conversant in the use of Microsoft applications;
  • Be self-motivated and prepared to work on own initiative;
  • Have a good command of the English language;
  • Have well developed organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to work under pressure in meeting defined deadlines;
  • Be customer orientated, working at high standards of customer care and satisfaction;
  • Have good leadership skills, maintaining authority and discipline at the place of work;
  • Be a team player with colleagues and superiors.
