Petabytes of data need rescue and there’s no hero in sight!

Gameloft, a leading publisher of digital games is searching for that special and talented engineer, to take on the responsibility of our core data infrastructure, improve and grow it. We are talking billions of data points, millions of entries and challenges of all kind across multiple programming languages.

The likely hero engineer would ideally work in a standardized PHP environment using the Code Igniter framework, facing challenges and with much to learn from the experience. Knowledge of some RDBMS systems, ACID or CAP systems would be nice. The project consists of developing analytics or core applications that interact with a NoSQL Cassandra and Spark based solution.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the set of core applications and intranet websites;
  
• Understand current implementation, learn and apply best industry standards;
• Short-term and long-term application development, on a case-by-case basis;
• Research & develop improved ways of visualizing data;
• Help data scientist and other data analytics teams;
• Unit tests and documentation

Requirements:

• 3 years experience in a similar position
  
• Efficiency in PHP (Code Igniter or similar framework);
• Knowledge and proficiency with Javascript (JQuery, Mootools, etc.);
• Good knowledge of RDBMS (eg. MySQL) and familiar to a few key NoSQL concepts (CAP theorem, BASE/ACID, indexes, high-availability, etc.)
• Fluent in English
• Good team player and communication skills;
• Fast learner and willing to improve himself daily;
• Self-motivated, resourceful person

Big pluses:

• Knowledge of OOP and design patterns;
  
• Knowledge of distributed computing systems;
• Basic knowledge of Linux systems (Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint)
