Company Description
Job Description
Gameloft Brisbane is looking for a versatile Narrative Game Designer and Scriptwriter to be the voice and soul of our upcoming project!
This is a unique hybrid role. We are looking for someone who is not only a skilled narrative architect, capable of weaving story into gameplay systems, but also a powerhouse scriptwriter. You will be tasked with diving deep into the IP, embracing its lore, and adopting the unique voices of its characters to write dialogue and scripts that feel authentic, immersive, and true to the brand. As a steward of a major IP, you will act as a key bridge between our creative vision and the IP stakeholders, ensuring the narrative is both innovative and aligned with the brand's legacy.
What it means on a daily basis
- Master the IP Voice: Deeply immerse yourself in the existing IP and characters to ensure every line of dialogue and piece of lore is "in character," while maintaining a constant dialogue with IP stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Script with Precision: Write high-quality dialogue, cinematic scripts, and "world barks" (ambient dialogue) that drive the plot forward and breathe life into the environment.
- Bridge Story and Gameplay: Collaborate with Game and Quest Designers to translate narrative beats into playable moments, ensuring that the story enhances the gameplay and vice versa.
- Architect the Narrative Flow: Design narrative structures, branching dialogue paths, and story arcs that react to player agency and choices.
- Implement Narrative Content: Work directly within our development tools and Unreal Engine to implement dialogue, script events, and environmental storytelling elements.
- World-Build through Detail: Create compelling lore entries, item descriptions, and environmental clues that reward curious players and enrich the world.
- Collaborate on Performance: Work closely with Audio leads and Voice Actors to ensure the written word is translated into the intended emotional performance.
- Iterate through Feedback: Review game builds and synthesize feedback from playtests and IP stakeholders; you will be expected to iterate quickly and gracefully on scripts to meet the high standards of the brand.
- Align Narrative Vision: Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team and external partners to ensure the story remains a core pillar of the player experience while respecting the boundaries of the IP.
What success will look like
Success in this role means delivering compelling, authentic narrative content that feels true to the IP while meaningfully enhancing the player experience. The successful candidate will build strong relationships across the creative team and with external IP stakeholders, confidently translate narrative concepts into engaging gameplay, and consistently produce high-quality dialogue, scripts, world-building and branching content. They will be comfortable iterating based on feedback, implementing narrative content within development tools, and ensuring the story remains cohesive, immersive and aligned with the project's creative vision throughout development.

- IP Stewardship: Demonstrated experience working with existing intellectual properties and a proven track record of successfully collaborating with external stakeholders or brand owners.
