Job Description
We are looking for a talented and passionate 3D Character Artist to join our art team in Barcelona and help bring memorable characters, vehicles, weapons, and props to life for our games.
Working closely with the Lead Character Artist, Art Director, and multidisciplinary teams including Animation, Design, and Technical Art, you will create high-quality game-ready assets that combine artistic excellence with technical performance.
What you will do
- Create high and low-poly 3D characters, character props, vehicles, weapons, and other assets.
- Sculpt high-quality models in ZBrush and optimize assets for real-time production.
- Create textures using Substance Painter and integrate assets into the game engine following the project's pipeline.
- Collaborate closely with the Animation team to ensure clean, animation-ready topology.
- Produce efficient UV layouts and optimize assets while maintaining high visual quality.
- Contribute to the artistic quality of the game by following the project's visual direction and technical requirements.
- Work closely with Art, Design, and Technical Art teams throughout the production process.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a 3D Character Artist in the video games industry.
- Strong experience creating both high and low-poly character assets.
- Excellent knowledge of ZBrush for digital sculpting.
- Proficiency with Substance Painter and Photoshop.
- Strong experience with at least one major 3D package (3ds Max, Maya, or Blender), with working knowledge of the others.
- Solid understanding of anatomy, topology, UV mapping, and real-time asset creation pipelines.
- Experience creating game-ready assets for real-time engines.
- Good communication skills and the ability to clearly explain and document your work.
- A portfolio demonstrating high-quality character art for games.
Nice to have
- Strong artistic background in traditional or digital art.
- Excellent understanding of human and creature anatomy.
- Experience working across different art styles.
- Familiarity with scripting or pipeline improvements.
- Experience working with modern game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
