Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Taxation Analyst compiles and analyses taxation information in an international context to prepare the reports required for the company:

  • Ensure compliance of the group’s different companies with Canadian legislation on income tax, tax credits and various taxes
  • Ensure compliance of the group’s different companies’ transactions with applicable international taxation legislation
  • Ensure preparation of the companies’ tax returns and coordinate preparing them with external advisors
  • Ensure that the rules on transfer prices are documented along with the legal documentation related to tax transactions
  • Calculate the annual tax provision of the group’s companies
  • Analyse notices of assessment received and communicate with governments to reconcile any discrepancies and resolve disputes
  • Ensure reduction of taxation risks (watch, analysis and recommendation)
  • Provide support during tax audits performed by different levels of government
  • Ensure the companies’ sales-tax compliance
  • Act proactively concerning taxation-law changes, including taxable benefits, and communicate best practices in response to these changes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting
  • CPA designation – an asset
  • At least 5–8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in US taxation – an asset
  • Good knowledge of the MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of accounting rules
  • Communications skills in French and English, both oral and written, in a professional context (regular interactions with internal or external English-speaking clients)
  • Dynamic, versatile and proactive attitude
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively within deadlines
  • Resourcefulness, autonomy, attention to detail, initiative and engagement
  • Able to work as part of a team
