Job Description
In this role, students support the integration, verification, and validation of complex defence systems within the Coalition and Joint Interoperability team. These roles provide hands-on experience with system requirements, design, integration testing, and process improvement activities. Students gain exposure to mission-critical command and control systems used across Canadian Army vehicles, weapon platforms, and headquarters, including hardware, firmware, and software components.
Key Responsibilities
- Support requirements elicitation, documentation, and analysis to ensure system functionality aligns with operational needs.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and documenting system designs, use cases, and interface definitions under guidance from senior engineers.
- Prepare, execute, and document system integration and verification test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Support the design, development, and maintenance of automated test scripts and tools.
- Identify, investigate, and report system defects to support reliable operation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and customers to support integration and interoperability activities.
- Assist in mapping requirements to test cases and tracking verification coverage.
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Assets
- Familiarity with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Curiosity and interest in understanding how complex systems function.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Exposure to system integration, verification, and testing activities.
- Knowledge of formal requirement and test management processes.
- Enthusiastic, willing to learn, and takes ownership of assigned work.
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

Compensation
The expected hourly rate for this position is $23.08 – $32.41. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
