General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV’s. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

This role of Project Accountant is an integral part of the current Projects Finance Team, ensuring financial control is held within the programme areas and ensuring continued compliance with all relevant GDUK and corporate policies. The role encompasses total financial control of programs, selected departmental budgets and reconciliation work.

Reporting to the Senior Project Accountant for the avionics business line, providing financial support to the business unit, you will need to be a self-starter with an eye for detail and the ability to work as part of a team.

Typical daily activities could include:

  • Provide estimate at complete (EAC) data for projects, ensuring integrity of data and adherence to corporate policies, before presenting to the Programme Manager, Senior Project Accountant, Programme Director
  • Financial analysis on existing projects including the generation of revised forecasts and monthly actuals variance analysis. Ensuring integrity of data and adherence to corporate policies.
  • Bid and proposal activity including costing, pricing, evaluating and preparing presentations, advice and support to all levels of avionics business.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will be or have:

  • Considerable experience in an accounting role
  • Part qualified Accountant with a relevant accounting body
  • High level of Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Strong analytical capacity to identify trends and problems and make recommendations in response
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communication & present in a clear & concise manner
  • Team player & collaborative spirit

Additional Information

In return for your dedication, collaboration and commitment, you will receive a starting salary of £27,900 to £37,000 plus our excellent flexible benefits package.

This role is based in our Hastings offices with time working from home (ideally 3 days in office or more)
