Job Description

Join our team as a Supplier Commodity Specialist, where you'll play a pivotal role in championing supplier performance and product quality as part of our supply chain team. 

You will be responsible for proactively ensuring supplier performance and quality of product conformance to established company, international and government regulatory standards, agency guidelines, and customer defined requirements. Tasks can include contract evaluation, data analysis, reporting, configuration of deliverable product documentation, traceability and the development of innovative quality tools and processes.

Experience and effective RCCA Root Cause and Corrective Action  capabilities within a Contract Manufacturing environment, Circuit Card Assembly and PWB manufacturing are considered assets. Other responsibilities will include: 

  • Participate in SCM commodity (multiple supplier) teams to achieve specific technical, commercial and supplier quality objectives.
  • Participate in the supplier approval process.  Evaluating and rating potential new supplier quality, leading visits and audits.
  • Support commodity reviews and rationalization of suppliers.
  • Responsible for root cause and corrective action investigation and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Conduct supply quality information trend analysis.
  • Measuring, tracking and improving supplier quality.
  • Develop and supports the verification of quality records and ensures specifications are correctly interpreted/applied
  • Provide day-to-day supply quality engineering support to suppliers.
  • Establish, implement and maintain quality audit plans to verity supplier quality management systems are in compliance with industry, government and international standards, good manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the review and approval of supplier QA procedures, supplier QC plans, locating inspection, test, and measurement equipment at vendor site.
  • Support Engineering design and development
  • Support strategic supplier development and progression of vendors from identification, through qualified to preferred and strategic.
  • Initiate lower cost, lean methods in the GDMS-C supply chain.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives & cross functional project teams
  • Key user of supplier rating and supplier management tools.
  • Communicate supplier issues to other GDC departments and proactively implements corrective action
  • Interface with leadership, engineering, operations, quality, programs, and leadership
  • Coach and mentors more junior team members

Qualifications

  • Must be able to understand and apply, engineering drawing and specifications
  • Ability to proactively identify threats and challenges and develop strategies/suggestions to mitigate
  • Demonstrate analytical, research, and organization skills
  • Previous experience working and contributing to teams which required the use of interpersonal and team effectiveness skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment.
  • Solid understanding of business acumen and the importance of customer service when working with internal client groups and suppliers.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Advanced user of MS Office applications, and other related tools.
  • Excellent time management/organization skills.
  • Proven project leadership experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, or applicable technical discipline
  • 8+ years of related experience
