General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV’s. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and weapon systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

General Dynamics is recruiting for a Head of PM Governance to:

  • Provide governance and effective oversight of the portfolio of projects within the Avionics business unit.
  • Lead development and delivery of strategically important development, production and in-service support projects.

The Head of Programmes will be expected to contribute to business strategy and support the Avionics Director in developing and maintaining strategically important customer, supplier and other industry relationships

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented individual with first-class leadership and motivational skills. They must be able to inspire outstanding work from team members with a range of experience and technical abilities. Other key requirements include excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills, with a strong knowledge of functional disciplines and experience of managing supply chain and workshare partners.

This position requires a subject matter expert in project management with extensive experience of leading large, complex international projects in order to ensure we deliver against our customer commitments. The Head of Programmes will oversee all active projects and project management proposals within the Avionics business unit.

A proven work history is required in a project management environment and in executing complex projects, ideally with a background in managing projects within the defence avionics sector across both fixed wing aircraft and rotorcraft.
