General Dynamics Mission Systems in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide a wide range of Avionic Mission Computing Systems for a wide range Military Fast Jets, Helicopters and UAV’s. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and weapon systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.
Job Description
General Dynamics UK is looking for a skilled and collaborative Senior Hardware Development Engineer to work within our avionics product development teams, developing a range of product solutions to meet the needs of new and advanced avionic platforms. This full-time hardware development engineering role is based in Hastings and comes with a favourable salary of up to £52,000 and the opportunity to explore flexible working arrangements.
As a dedicated Senior Hardware Development Engineer, you will develop activities across the product development life-cycle, from conceptual design, requirements capture, and analysis to system integration and commissioning. You will be assigned to one of our avionic product development teams, where you will be primarily involved in the detailed design or integration activities of one or more system components. There will also be opportunities to work within our research teams to develop conceptual designs for new products and systems.
Qualifications
To apply for this hardware development engineering job, you will ideally qualifications in electronics or an electronic systems engineering discipline. Some development experience in the avionics, aerospace or naval systems industry would be preferred but is not essential. You also must hold or be able to obtain a UK Security Clearance (SC). Additional requirements include:
- A good understanding of the challenges associated with hardware design and systems engineering
- High levels of motivation, integrity and professionalism
- Full understanding of the development life-cycle from concept to requirements, design capture to production handover
- Proficiency in hardware design and verification in digital and analogue circuits
- Experience with firmware development and verification, primarily VHDL
In this role, we operate hybrid working (with time split between home and our facilities each week) or you can be based within our offices in Hastings.
