IT Support Engineer- 1st/2nd Line
Job Description
My Client In Manchester is looking for a 1st/2nd Line Support Engineer. You’ll be hands-on with the day to day running and maintenance of systems, and the focal point for our users for whatever problems they may have.
Working independently, you’ll be a skilled problem solver, troubleshooting a variety of technical challenges, assisting with cyber-security initiatives, and taking a positive, proactive approach to your work.
The role will include:
·Desktop maintenance (mostly Windows 10, with some Apple and Android devices)
·Supporting the infrastructure team with software roll-outs and patches
·Label and industrial Printer maintenance
·Application/user support – Microsoft Office365
·In-house custom application support (training provided)
·Active Directory User management
·Help maintaining enterprise anti-virus solutions
·Hardware and Software installation / fault finding
·To create and update in-house documentation for the IT service desk
Essential skills
·Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
·Great communication skills (in person and via telephone) and written / spoken English
·Personable, with the ability to build rapport with team members and other departments
·Experience of Windows 10 administration
·Hardware and software fault finding with thorough root cause analysis
·Translate users’ problems into actionable requests and successful resolutions
·Windows PC/laptop management via Active Directory
·PC hardware installation and troubleshooting
·Knowledge of enterprise level anti-virus solutions
·Mobile device management including IOS and Android devices
·Helpdesk ticketing systems (we use Jira Service Desk)
Desired but non-essential skills
·O365 administration
·Utilization of GPOs
·Administration of BT phone systems
·Experience with PDQ Deploy/Inventory
·DUO Authentication Proxy (or similar 2FA application)
·Exposure to Forescout or other NAC systems
·Cisco networking and Wi-Fi controllers
·BeyondTrust user administration
·An interest in cyber-security systems
Training in the above areas will be provided if necessary.
