This role will be based remotely in Tokyo, Japan, with occasional travel to Yamagata upon client request. We’re seeking a seasoned SAP PM Consultant who can lead the Plant Maintenance workstream and take ownership of large-scale transformation projects in the near future.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SAP MDG Senior Consultant to join our team at a leading pharmaceutical company in Tokyo, Japan. The SAP MDG Senior Consultant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) solutions to ensure high-quality, compliant, and standardized master data across the organization. This role will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, project managers, solution architects, and technical teams to define data governance processes, gather requirements, configure SAP MDG solutions, support data migration activities, and ensure successful project delivery while maintaining alignment with business objectives and global standards.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Design, configure, and support SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) solutions for master data domains such as Material Master and related business objects.
  •  Conduct requirements gathering workshops and GAP analysis with business stakeholders to identify business needs and define future-state processes.
  •  Support the development and documentation of To-Be business processes based on user requirements.
  •  Perform data modeling, workflow modeling, interface design, and business rule configuration within SAP MDG.
  •  Define and maintain master data governance standards, data definitions, validation rules, cleansing rules, deduplication processes, and exception handling procedures.
  •  Plan, track, and coordinate project activities, ensuring timely delivery of IT solutions and project deliverables.
  •  Prepare functional specifications, user requirement specifications (URS), and technical requirement documents.
  •  Configure SAP MDG solutions and maintain configuration documentation according to project standards and governance requirements.
  •  Define field mappings, extraction rules, conversion tables, and transformation rules to support data migration activities.
  •  Support data migration planning, data validation, cutover execution, and post-go-live stabilization activities.
  •  Collaborate across functional and technical workstreams to resolve integration issues and ensure seamless end-to-end business processes.
  •  Support the setup and alignment of Global SKUs and master data standards within the Product Master Data (PMD) environment.
  •  Create test scenarios, test specifications, and test data to support unit, integration, and user acceptance testing activities.
  •  Execute unit testing and support integration testing, defect resolution, and quality assurance activities.
  •  Track, monitor, and manage defects using tools such as SAP Solution Manager (SolMan), HP ALM, BISM, or similar platforms.
  •  Define business roles, authorizations, and workflow assignments to support data governance processes.
  •  Review and validate requirements, process designs, and solutions with business users, ensuring stakeholder approval and sign-off.
  •  Deliver key user and end-user training sessions and provide post-implementation support.
  •  Actively drive resolution of cross-stream dependencies and integration topics to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications: 

  •  Experience implementing and supporting SAP Master Data Governance (SAP MDG).
  •  Strong knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM), data governance, and data quality processes.
  •  Experience with material master data, data migration, and data lifecycle management.
  •  Knowledge of SAP data modeling, workflow configuration, business rules, and interface integration.
  •  Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  •  Experience working in global SAP transformation and implementation projects.
  •  Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.
  •  Excellent communication, documentation, and training skills.
  •  Fluent in English and Japanese (spoken and written).
