Job Description

 

  • Provide creative direction and mentorship to the paint team.
  • Ensure the paint work aligns with the overall vision of the project.
  • Manage and lead a team of paint artists, assigning tasks and providing guidance.
  • Oversee daily operations of the paint department, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Stay up to date with the latest paint and compositing software and techniques.
  • Develop and implement efficient paint workflows and pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to project-specific technical standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain high-quality standards for all paint work.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of paint elements to identify and address issues.
  • Collaborate with the compositing team to ensure seamless integration of paint elements.
  • Attend client reviews and provide clear and concise explanations of paint work.
  • Effectively communicate project requirements and status to the team and clients.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate estimates for paint work and manage the department's schedule.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Train, mentor, and support Junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a VFX Paint Supervisor for a year or Paint Lead atleast for 3 years on feature films or high-end television projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of paint and compositing software (e.g., Nuke, silhouette and mocha).
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback quickly and effectively; takes direction well.
  • Experience training artist and being a mentor; previous management experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, team player, time management skills and presentation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Specialist to collaborate on integrating new tools (AI) with the pipeline.
