Introduction

The Mechanical Technician takes part in the design of major mechanical components for infrastructure and systems. He/she is also involved in producing, installing, commissioning, operating and maintaining these components, notably those required for the accelerator complex.

Functions

As a Designer, in the Engineering (EN) department*, Accelerator Coordination and Engineering (ACE) group, you will:

  • Design or contribute to the design and integration of accelerators components and produce drawings (integration, assembly and detailed drawings);
  • Design the layout of services (e.g. piping) and the layout/routing of cables and circuits;
  • Participate in the selection of components and define their technical characteristics;
  • Provide feedback for and participate actively in upgrade studies and equipment consolidation; prepare the relevant documentation;
  • Monitor the progress of work and control quality with various colleagues or contractors.

Qualifications

Technical certificate or higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience, in the field of mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Experience and Competencies

You have demonstrated experience in 3D integration studies of large and complex beam facilities such as accelerators and interacting with beam physicists to design and validate the layout of beam lines. You have been involved in a large consolidation project.

You also have experience in the field of reverse engineering, in particular by using clouds of points generated by laser scanner.

Furthermore, in the frame of integration studies, you have proven experience in the use of CAD software, especially CATIA, and in optimizing the management of standard CAD items within PDM application, such as Smarteam.

Experience in configuration and layout management databases would be an asset.
