Job Description

This dynamic individual will report to the VP Human Resources and may include up to 20% travel.

Successful candidates will manage the day to day HR management and administration activities for a multi-location organization, establishing common practice and process to ensure the consistent administration of HR policy across the organization.

· Lead the development of all Human Resources policies, processes and systems for the company and partner with management to communicate same.

· Lead the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines necessary to align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company. 

· Counsel and provide guidance to managers on employment law and employee relations matters, as appropriate.

· Supports the efforts of the VP HR by;

· Actively contributing to the development of department goals, objective and systems that support not only the efforts of the HR department but the company’s strategic direction;

· Develop, schedule, implement and lead the HR training initiatives including new hire orientations and training on HR employee tools (Workday).

· Monitor employee and manager compliance to HR policy and process and follows up as applicable to provide guidance and/or training as applicable

· Assist with the implementation of company safety and health programs.

· Support the efforts of the Manager, Talent Acquisition in the development and administration of a Company-Wide recruiting and hiring strategy.

· Propose appropriate communication tools (company meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction survey, newsletters etc. and leads the administration of these programs.

· Support the efforts of the Manager, Talent Acquisition in the development and administration of a Company wide recruiting and hiring strategy.

· Support the efforts of the Director, Talent Management in the development and implementation of a Company wide talent management strategy.

· Propose appropriate communication tools (company meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction survey, newsletters etc. and leads the administration of these programs.

Qualifications

Post Secondary Education with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the field of Human Resources or equivalent experience (minimum 12+ years).

· Experience in working in or managing multiple HR disciplines.

· Experience managing HR staff and/or teams in remote locations

· Demonstrated ability to develop policy / process and its’ implementation with the demonstrated ability to develop and draft supporting documentation.

· Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret legal statutes, legislation and requirements as they pertain to employee relations and human resources issues and the ability to apply this knowledge effectively.

· Demonstrated ability to research, gather and compile information from numerous sources into effectual documentation, training materials and reports.

· Expert level knowledge and understanding of internal HR policy / practice.

· Expert level knowledge of the department HRIS system (Workday) with the ability to manage the ongoing administration of the tool and train others on the use of the tool.

Effective communication skills (oral and written) with excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.

· Able to create business presentations and other internal communication documentation.

· Able to act as an effective facilitator / trainer.

· Demonstrates a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently but understands when to involve the Vice President, HR.

· Demonstrates willingness to support other department members with the completion of their tasks and assignments.

· Demonstrates pro-active thinking. Proposes and acts on HR initiatives without daily direction.

· Demonstrates a high degree of common sense and the ability to work independently.
