Leveraging your first hand experience of cloud engineering you will build, maintain and optimise our cloud based infrastructure and deployments here at Frollo. As an experienced Cloud Engineer you are confident in navigating the complexities of scaling to demand whilst ensuring costs are managed and optimised. The role will require an understanding of software development languages and practices to maximise automation and ensure robust change management in the role. You will work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to bring cohesiveness to the two teams.

Some of the day to day:

• Solutions
  • Propose solutions to new projects and infrastructure challenges
  • Design and document solutions for new and existing projects at Frollo
  • Optimise existing solutions to mitigate performance, cost and other operational  issues
• Operations
  • Ensure day to day running of our infrastructure on AWS and Heroku
  • Investigate and triage issues that occur in production environments
  • Document and improve on existing solutions
• Traceability and Security
  • Provide a traceable change management approach for audits and root cause analysis
  • Ensure security of our infrastructure and solutions
  • Avoid potential data breaches or other security issues

What does the right profile look like?

• AWS cloud services experience including Fargate, EC2, S3, Route53, SageMaker, RDS, VPCs and IAM
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation or other tools
• A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/ IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks).
• Security best practices across cloud, applications, firewalls and servers. 
• Strong experience in a DevOps environment.
• Strong experience with back-up and recovery environments.
• Sound working knowledge of Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Strong SQL skills and an ability to optimise database queries
• Exposure to design APIs. RESTful services and when to use JSON or XML.
• Experience with big data or data analytical tools
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (desirable) 
• Experience in financial services (desirable)
• Experience with Heroku (desirable)
