The Cloud Cost Engineer will be responsible for optimizing cloud resource utilization, managing costs, and ensuring efficient use of cloud services across our organization. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to implement cost-effective cloud solutions while maintaining high levels of performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain tools and scripts for automating cost management tasks, such as resource provisioning, scheduling, and scaling. Implement cost monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify cost anomalies and inefficiencies.

• Develop and maintain cloud cost forecasts and budgets. Track actual spending against budgeted amounts and provide regular reports and analysis to stakeholders.

• Implement controls and governance mechanisms to prevent cost overruns and unauthorized spending

• Cross collaboration with teams and implement engineering solutions for optimizing the cost

• Stay abreast of cloud computing innovations and implement the cost optimization strategies

• Examine cloud architecture blueprints to identify flaws and make system enhancements.

• Collaborate with engineering, finance teams to align cloud spending with organizational goals and priorities. 

Qualifications

• Experience in cloud cost management, cloud architecture, or related roles.

• In-depth knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS) and their pricing models.

• Proficiency in cloud cost analysis tools and platforms .

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to analyze complex cost data and identify optimization opportunities.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and practices (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) 

• Experience with software development and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.

• Experience with working in cloud custodian open source scripts
