Job Description

Freshworks is seeking a technical, hands-on Revenue Senior Director/Director to join our Finance team. This leader will manage a highly competent revenue accounting team, provide consultation to deals desk and work cross functionally to optimize our contracting and revenue recognition processes. The Senior Director/Director will have the opportunity to expand into a broader program management role for high impact special projects in revenue operations from time to time. This leader will bring extensive experience working in a high-growth SaaS environment. 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a well established and highly competent revenue accounting team. 

  • Manage the monthly revenue close process including timely completion of all analyses,  reviews and audits.

  • Manage all aspects of the revenue cycle to ensure accurate revenue recognition under ASC606.

  • Responsible for hands-on execution and optimization of the end-to-end revenue model of the organization creating alignment across Growth, Marketing, Sales, Professional services and Customer Success.

  • Provide leadership and manage special projects on an ongoing basis.

  • Develop, own, and continuously iterate on data sets, reports, and insights that drive true strategic decision making across the organization. 

  • Lead technical accounting discussions relating to revenue recognition and be the subject-matter expert to drive matters to conclusion.

  • Review non standard customer contracts for revenue recognition implications and work with the sales and legal teams on structuring deals. Exercise judgment within defined policies and authoritative literature to determine appropriate action related to revenue-related transactions.

  • Support revenue operations such as Provisioning, Billing, Credit & Collections, as needed.

  • Prepare technical accounting memos and provide guidance to non-finance organizations based on new accounting guidelines.

  • Work actively with external and internal auditors to ensure that company revenue recognition interpretation and internal revenue guidance are consistent and compliant with GAAP and all technical requirements.

  • Effectively communicate highly technical information and perspectives to a wide range of employees across functional areas.  

  • Work with leadership and FP&A teams to develop annual bookings and revenue/deferred revenue plans, as well as the analysis of actual results for future planning and forecasting.

  • Establish and continuously iterate on robust forecasting processes and reports that become the anchor of effective planning discussions across the organization.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of revenue processes and controls, continuously striving for improvement.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 15+ years of operational experience in finance/ accounting, and a minimum 5+ years in a high-growth SaaS company.

  • Big 4 audit experience a plus

  • Strong communicator comfortable presenting to executive management.

  • Detailed knowledge of ASC 606 and relevant current accounting rules relating to software, SaaS, and services revenue recognition.

  • Experience reviewing and analyzing customer orders and contracts and related documentation to identify revenue-related issues for proper accounting treatment.

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and work within tight deadlines.

  • Motivated and eager to expand job responsibilities, suggest improvements, and collaborate with others to generate ideas to improve processes.

  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Colorado Pay Range: $225,000 - $300,000 comprising an annual salary & incentive compensation. You may also be eligible for equity and additional generous company benefits.

New York Pay Range: $225,000 - $320,000 comprising an annual salary & incentive compensation. You may also be eligible for equity and additional generous company benefits.
