Job Description

The Role:

The Maintenance Reliability Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all warehouse systems and processes, reporting into the Senior maintenance manager. This role focuses on the maintenance, optimisation, and continuous improvement of warehouse equipment, inventory management systems, and overall operational performance. The Maintenance Reliability Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including shift managers and teams, operations, safety, and quality control to minimise downtime, enhance productivity, and uphold safety standards.

Our Warehouse Operation is an impressive, state of the art, 2.5m square foot Distribution Centre in Shirebrook, and one of the most advanced warehouses within the UK. We are currently looking to grow our Warehouse Team with individuals who are obsessed with continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Reliability and Maintenance Management:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the warehouse reliability program to ensure optimal performance of equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices for equipment maintenance.
  • Process Improvement and Optimisation:
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse reliability, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Analyse equipment performance data and warehouse operations to identify areas of improvement.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring problems and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Support safety manager to ensure all equipment and processes adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
  • Drive the completion of high standard PM’s by carrying out regular inspections across all equipment.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to review and improve risk assessments and safety protocols related to warehouse equipment and systems.

Team Leadership and Training:

  • Supervise and lead SME/trainer roles providing coaching, development, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging communication and knowledge sharing across departments. Working closely with shift managers and shift leads to support in machine availability improvement.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management:
  • Manage relationships with third-party service providers, contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Oversee equipment purchases, installation, and repairs, ensuring cost-effective solutions and timely completion of projects. Negotiate contracts and service agreements to secure favourable terms for equipment maintenance, servicing, and replacement.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse reliability, such as equipment downtime, maintenance costs, and safety incidents.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, outlining the reliability performance of the warehouse and key improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory usage.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Reliability Leader, Six Sigma, or Maintenance Management) are preferred.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in a warehouse or industrial reliability/maintenance role, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of warehouse systems and equipment, including material handling, conveyor systems, and automation technologies.
  • Proficient in CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) and other maintenance management software.
  • Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and present information to senior management.
