Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To assist with formulation changes and other office work with the Poultry Nutritionist.
To perform daily/weekly data entry of ingredient nutrient information and updates, weekly pricing updates, diet formulation as needed, as well as other such clerical duties that pertain to the formulation software. Help with tracking nutrition and performance data as it relates to nutritional changes. Filing of nutrition documents.
Essential Job Funcitions:
Reformulate diets. Update Ingredient Matrixes and
Ingredient and Diet Pricing Updates. Daily and weekly data entry for various nutrition reports. Open communication with mills after hours and weekends as needed to keep mills up to date with diet needs as ingredients are and are not available. Obtain records from feed mills, chemistry labs, accountants, and other identified sources
Filing of nutrition letters, diets, and other various nutrition documents in their appropriate folders and binders. Help with the gathering of data and preparation of reports for projects under the Nutrition department and guidance of the Poultry Nutritionist. Keeping orderly and up to date diet and reports filing
Obtaining data and information identified in the defined projects, preparing reports, networking and working with suppliers, feed mills, processing plants, ingredient sourcing and commodities to obtain pertinent information identified in nutrition projects.
Attend conferences, supplier meetings, internal meetings as needed that at times may require overnight travel.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Ag or related field.
• 1+years’ experience in similar field preferred
• Must have advanced computer skills, including word, PowerPoint, excel.
• Must understand intermediate levels of math and know or be able to learn nutrition percentages, proportions, calculations relating to proportioning ingredients and nutrients.
• Have excellent time management skills and Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Possess excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Available after hours and on weekends to update diets if needed when nutritionist is away or unavailable.
• Ability to make travel arrangements and do some travel to off-site locations and industry meetings.
• Punctual and ability to be prepared and timely for meetings.
• Possess a CA Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
