Job Description

Purpose of Position:

Manages the Employee and Labor Relations functions of the Demopolis, Alabama Manufacturing Plant to insure sound morale, a safe work environment and training of Management Personnel to meet the Company’s short-and-long-term goals.  Coordinates implementation of services, policies and programs through Human Resources staff, including but not limited to: recruiting and staffing logistics, performance management and improvement systems, organizational development, compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting, employee orientation, development and training, policy development and documentation, compensation and benefits administration and employee safety, welfare, wellness and health.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide Human Resources leadership support for the Demopolis Manufacturing and Office Complex.
  • Administer the policies and procedures for the Demopolis CBA with the union as well as exempt and non-exempt policies.
  • Plan, organize and direct administrative activities of the Human Resources Department including establishing new approaches, procedures and guidelines to effect continual improvement. 
  • Recruiting for vacancies at all levels.  Management positions to be filled in accordance with the Succession/Manpower Planning. 
  • Develop and execute recruiting plans.  Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, and employees.  Develop and track goals for the recruiting and hiring process.  Coordinate and implement high school, college and technical recruiting initiatives. 
  • Help create an inclusive and positive culture through meaningful employee engagement programs including onboarding, employee recognition, employee perks and offerings, employee groups, etc. 
  • Collaborate with other team members to design and manage events to keep employees engaged and motivated. 
  • Training and development for management by determining training needs and content based upon skills gap as a group and on an individual basis. 
  • Administer and guide salary/wage decisions, performance appraisals and assist in individual development plans. 
  • Establish EEO and AA plans of action in accordance with Foster Farms policies.  Train management in Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity. 
  • Conduct legal investigations regarding sexual harassment, discrimination and EEO. 
  • Partners with HR VP and Plant Manager on labor relations initiatives and other issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.   

 

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills:

  • B.S./B.A. Degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Human Resources supporting a manufacturing facility/plant. 
  • Human Resources experience in a union environment, managing a collective bargaining agreement. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with proven ability to drive continuous improvement and results.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage a wide range of relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in creating and maintaining employee communications strategies and employee engagement plans and initiatives including recognition, employee events and strategies for collecting employee feedback and action plans to address employee concerns and ideas. 
  • Proven work experience leading recruiting efforts for a Manufacturing facility for hourly plant and plant management positions. 
  • Working knowledge of applicant tracking and HRIS systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Deep understanding of employment laws and regulations.
