Job Description

Purpose of Position: Responsible for facility’s compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental, health and safety concerns (EHS). Developing, implementing, and managing all EHS policies and procedures. Managing incident investigations, tracking EHS metrics, workplace inspections, and recommending program modification or corrective actions pertaining to EHS issues onsite.

Essential Job Functions:

Develop, implement and enforce governing safety and health policies and procedures and conduct incident investigations to ensure “root cause(s)” have been indentified and that appropriate corrective action has been completed.

Prepare and deliver EHS trainings and programs to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.

Manage, maintain, enforce and ensure compliance with environmental programs for the Fernando’s plant; programs include Air Quality, Pesticide, Hazardous Material, Hazardous Waste, Industrial Wastewater and Drinking Water & Storm Water Programs

Perform safety audits and inspections of the Fernando’s Foods Operations, as well as track findings to ensure closure, assist in investigation vehicular accidents on and off site.

Conduct safety portion of all new hire orientations, conduct LO/TO, General Safety Rules, Pallet Jack, & Fork lifting training to all applicable new hires.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Must have a B.S./B.A. degree in safety or related field (ASP or CSP Preferred).

Must have a minimum of five years of professional experience in planning, developing, implementing and ensuring compliance with health and safety system programs and environmental programs.

Education and experience must clearly indicate the existence of specialized knowledge in critical health & safety programs and functions, such as medical management, behavioral safety process, facility auditing, incident investigation, and employee safety committees.

Knowledge of Cal/OSHA, Fed/OSHA and UFC rules and standards.

Must demonstrate good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand English; Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Must be able to work in both individual and team work settings with minimum supervision.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, as well as health and safety network information systems.

Must be able to work varying shifts in varying environments including wet, cold and hot environments and must have regular attendance; must be able to occasionally audit/train on 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Must be able to stand on the production floor for varying amount of times with or without accommodations.

Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check.
