Job Description

  • Direct operation and monitor results for sanitation.
    • Establish sanitation best practices in conjunction with production management, quality control, Technical services and the USDA, while maintaining company productivity standards and departmental cost standards.
    • Develop Master Sanitation Schedule for the entire facility and grounds
    • Manage the Sanitation budget to insure labor productivity projections and departmental overhead and maintenance.
    • Chemical expenditures are tracked to provide necessary feedback to departmental supervisors.
    • Manage labor weekly cost.
    • Monitor capitol project expenditures.
    • Maintain Pest Control and Hazardous Material Storage in compliance with state, federal and local regulations.
    • Develop and monitor staff to insure adequate training in Safety and effectiveness maintained.
  • Oversight for release of equipment from sanitation
  • Partners with and manages supplier relationships with outside service providers.
  • Daily interface with USDA, must maintain good working rapport, adherence to standards and pre-operational inspection
  • Provide oversight for the water reuse system with strict adherence to regulation.
  • Provide oversight for facility audits

Qualifications

  • Must have a B.S./B.A. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Bacteriology or related field or
  • Must have five (5) years of management experience in a food related processing operation; poultry background is desirable
  • Must have HACCP Certification (Sanitation Superintendent is a member of the HACCP Team)
  • Should have a broad understanding of major functions within the plant and the ability to work directly with individuals at all levels and functions. 
  • Excellent working knowledge of production equipment, site layout, sanitation, pest control, quality systems and preventive maintenance and their application within food production facilities.
  • Knowledge and general acumen of applicable allergen, chemical cleaning, cleaning validation and verification and sanitary design.
  • Familiarity with SDS, PEE, Chemical and Safety programs and requirements.
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel is necessary).
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be an excellent troubleshooter
  • Must be able to work independently
