Job Description

Provide overall direction and supervision of the Packaging Department. Responsible for professional development of line supervisors through training programs. Ensure that the plant maintains a trained and efficient work force which consistently meets department goals on quality, yield, efficiency, cost and safety.

Responsible for ensuring that the Packaging department meets company goals and standards on quality, yield, productivity, cost and safety. Supervises the packaging of poultry products from whole body to skinless, boneless meat.
Responsible for the professional development and training of Line Supervisors and hourly employees, working within the guidelines of the union contract and Company Policies. Conduct Line Supervisors and Clerical performance evaluations.

Responsible for timely feedback to superintendent regarding problems encountered involving productivity such as but not limited to down time, quality, yield, cost and safety and to provide solutions to these problems.
Monitor standards and indices required for control/tracking of different employee areas or responsibility. Attend all weekly meetings related to these indices.
Ensure that safety orientations and safety meetings is held as required to keep frequency and severity of accidents/injuries to a minimum. To develop and implement any necessary safety programs to aid in reducing safety incidents
 

Qualifications

Possess a B.S./B.A. degree in Business Management or equivalent work force experience
5-10 years in the food processing industry.
Demonstrate ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
Exhibit strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Have strong mathematical background. This is required to perform calculation on yield, productivity, time cards, reports, etc.
Able to evaluate forepersons fairly and objectively.
Able to work well independently and exhibit strong internal drive to succeed
