Ready to be a change agent? As a Mechanical/Project Engineer at Fiberon, you will bridge the gap between technical design and project execution to drive continuous improvement in the production of our industry-leading composite decking. Joining our dynamic Meridian Maintenance Team, where you will serve as both a technical expert and a project leader, focusing on Capital Projects, Safety Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Cost Reduction, Material Utilization and R&D Collaboration.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the execution of new product development projects from ideation to commercialization. You will develop project plans to ensure projects are completed within scope, on time, and within budget, balancing hands-on troubleshooting and mechanical optimization with the end-to-end management of cutting-edge technology deployments.  Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution

• Capital Projects: Own the entire lifecycle of engineering and capital projects from initial scoping and budgeting through to final execution and commissioning.
• Project Reporting: Analyze operational data, interpret technical trends, and provide timely milestones, risk assessments, and financial updates to stakeholders.
• Vendor & Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate with equipment vendors, contractors, and internal R&D teams to keep projects on time and within budget.

⁠Process Optimization & Mechanical Design

• Process Optimization: Optimize current production processes and identify emerging technologies for future implementation.
• Mechanical Design: Develop mechanical designs and define project and equipment requirements using 2D and solid modeling CAD tools.
• Equipment Management: Evaluate, test, and modify legacy and new equipment to maximize safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Operational Excellence & Safety

• Product Launches: Ensure successful evaluation, testing, validation, and launch of new materials, processes, and products.
• Safety Advocacy: Actively support and advance health and safety practices across all business operations, ensuring all new project installations meet rigorous safety guidelines.
• Team Mentorship: Train, develop, and mentor colleagues within your area of technical and project expertise.

Education & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years in a blended mechanical, manufacturing, or project engineering role.
• Environment: Working experience within a technical product production or industrial manufacturing facility.

Technical & Leadership Skills:

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD (2D & Solids); knowledge of Ignition and Allen Bradley PLCs is a strong plus.
• Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated application of CI methodologies, root cause analysis, FMEA, and RCM.
• Project Management: Proven experience managing engineering projects from scope through to execution, including timeline management and budgeting.

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $70,000 USD - $110,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
