Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Senior Manager, Operations Accounting, leads the operations accounting function for the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting related to operations, ensuring strong internal controls, and driving process improvements across all business units. The Senior Manager will lead a team of accounting professionals and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in operations, finance, and supply chain.

Position location:  Deerfield, IL – position is Hybrid (On-site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) 

RSPONSIBLIITIES:

  • Lead and manage the operations accounting team, providing coaching, development, and performance management.
  • Oversee the month-end close process for all operations-related accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations related to inventory, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing variances.
  • Analyze and report on operational financial results, including inventory, production costs, and process efficiencies.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain leadership to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, systems, and internal controls, identifying and implementing best practices to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Standardize operations accounting policies for FBIN.
  • Recruit and train professional staff, communicate strategic initiatives, administer work expectations and regulations, and provide ongoing employee development.
  • Prepare and review various monthly, quarterly, and annual financial schedules.
  • Ensure SOX compliance for all operations accounting processes, including monitoring cycle count compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with operations or cost accounting preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience managing or leading accounting teams.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement initiatives within accounting or finance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $105,000 USD - $165,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
