Job Description
The Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Manager is responsible for leading a team of CAPA Engineers to execute Corrective and Preventive Actions that will remedy product and process quality issues. This role is also key to driving continuous improvement of the CAPA process as Process Owner and will work closely with global FBIN sites to ensure alignment and execution of the CAPA process and system.
This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based in Deerfield, IL.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the Fortune Brands CAPA Process Owner, which includes establishing and maintaining the CAPA process and system, managing CAPA process metrics, leading CAPA Review Board (CRB) Operations, and serving as subject matter expert on the CAPA Process
- Drive ideation, prioritization, and implementation of improvement opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the CAPA process and system
- Interact with Call Centers, Product Managers, Engineering, Sales, Field Service, Claims, Manufacturing, and Sourcing to investigate customer product performance issues
- Manage projects and lead teams comprised of cross-functional partners (such as GPD Project Management, Engineering, Platforms, Supplier Quality, Plant Quality, Manufacturing, Sales) to drive corrective actions and improve quality outcomes and business value
- Communicate Service Events, emerging Quality issues, and metrics to the Business Units
- Lead and manage Team associates to maintain the CAPA portfolio, ensuring quality issues are being processed in a timely and compliant manner
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering environment with significant manufacturing exposure. Product development design experience, preferably for consumer durable products is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality. ISO 9001 experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for dealing with all levels of staff, customers, suppliers, and operations.
- Superior communication skills, both in written and verbal presentation.
- Solid project management skills with a results orientation.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to travel as needed (roughly 20%) to manufacturing plants and distribution facilities.
- Prior experience managing a team is preferred.
Additional Information
Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $90,000 USD - $143,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
