Job Description

The successful applicant will be a therapist who can integrate and collaborate with professionals in a multi-disciplinary team through the Fortius Institute. The clinical Pilates instructor should have experience in working with a variety of clients, with a strong emphasis on athlete development and performance. This role would be part-time to start with potential to grow to full-time.

Clinical Pilates instructors are expected to develop and deliver group and individualized programming in the active Movement Education studio. Working collaboratively with colleagues engaged in both rehabilitation and active for life pathways, they will develop and implement a variety of strategies designed to ensure effective communication both internally (between departments and practitioners within Fortius) and externally (external therapists, coaches, IST members, etc.) that collectively result in an optimally integrated client experience.

The successful applicant must be extremely organized and detail oriented and be able to clearly outline and communicate the objectives and the purpose of an integrated rehabilitation approach in a manner that the client is able to understand and appreciate.

Qualifications

 Required

  • Registered Physical Therapist in good standing with the College of Physical Therapists of BC and adequate malpractice insurance;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a practicing physical therapist, with an emphasis on working with an athletic client load or managing the service provision for high performance teams;
  • Full certification as a Pilates Instructor through a recognized training-provider + rehabilitation levels preferred;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a practicing Clinical Pilates instructor;
  • Current First Aid and CPR.

Preferential experience

  • Certificate/Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy;
  • Manual therapy certification;
  • Worked at the provincial/national/international level of sport;
  • Presented at conferences, assisted or taught professional courses
  • Involved in research study or interested in research.
