Job Description

Accounting: Oversee accounting team ensuring accuracy and efficiency by planning, directing and coordinating all accounting activities.  Build effective team dynamic by mentoring and developing existing nanoComposix accounting team - define and lead all accounting operations relating to day-to-day AP, AR, cash management, inventory costing and other key deliverables.  Ensure appropriate financial and process controls, develop and implement accounting policy and training.  Support transactional processing and recording in accord with US GAAP, including full responsibility for:

 

  • Month end accounting close and supporting reporting packages
  • Accounts receivable, payable and cash management
  • Cost of Goods and inventory reconciliation and management – cycle counts, costing, etc. 
  • Accruals, prepaids and deferrals.
  • Balance sheet review and account reconciliations
  • Leads the team in developing and improving standard accounting related activities 
  • Understands key drivers and trends in company performance and can effectively communicate results to the executive team
  • Tax and Audit related support as necessary

 

Financial Systems and Processes: Administer the Infrastructure for proper control and scalability of the financial recordkeeping, purchasing, disbursement and payroll functions, including:

 

  • Provide chart of account maintenance, support transactional processing and nanoComposix business with upcoming ERP implementation from Quickbooks
  • The identification of key requirements, evaluation, selection and implementation/integration of systems necessary for both control and scalability – expense control, cash management
  • The design and development of policies and procedures that accompany key systems, and which may integrate with non-financial systems for improved control over the use of cash
  • Ongoing support provided to local leadership team in regard to necessary business metrics and analysis

Qualifications

Education / Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, MBA desirable.
  • 10 years of relevant accounting and/or financial planning experience.
  • Mix of both public accounting and private experience, Biotech experience desirable, private equity experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong excel skills: the ability to roll up (or down) and convey critical information crisply
  • Strong familiarity with GAAP and current proclamations
  • Self-directed, collaborative and team-oriented
  • Resourceful and comfortable with the unknown – not afraid to Google
  • Basic understanding of government accounting and billing is desirable.
