As a Staff Accountant – Reinsurance, you will be primarily responsible for various accounting and administrative functions in service to our captive reinsurance clients including compiling reinsurer cession statements, administering reinsurance trust agreements, reinsurer payments and billings, preparing client financial statements, posting journal entries, and GL account reconciliations. Responsibilities will include:
Compiling and administering monthly reinsurer cession statement
Set up new reinsurers and related reinsurance, trust and management agreement
Monthly reinsurer payments and billings
Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements for clients
Perform month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation and posting
Running periodic financial reports from the General Ledger system
Administering and posting all collateral balances
Account reconciliations including resolution of reconciling items
Audit request tracking and support preparation/gathering.
Minimum of 3 years accounting audit and/or tax work experience
Advanced MS Excel ability
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Oracle/AS400 experience a plus
Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills
Insurance/reinsurance industry experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required
