City Academy blends on-campus learning with guided home instruction through a unique hybrid model. Job Description
The Director of Development is responsible for leading all fundraising, donor relations, and strategic development initiatives. This role is critical to the long-term sustainability and growth of City Academy of Atlanta and supports scholarships, operations, capital improvements, and program expansion.
Key responsibilities of the Director of Development include but are not limited to:
Fundraising & Revenue Generation
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual development strategy aligned with CAA’s mission and growth goals
- Cultivate and solicit individual, major, corporate, and foundation donors
- Lead all grant research, writing, submission, and reporting
- Plan and manage fundraising campaigns and events
- Build and maintain a donor pipeline and long-term stewardship strategy
Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Strengthen relationships with donors, families, alumni, and community partners
- Design communication strategies including donor updates, appeals, recognition, and impact reporting
- Manage donor database and acknowledgment systems
Strategic Planning & School Collaboration
- Partner with school leadership to align fundraising with operational priorities
- Forecast financial development opportunities
- Represent CAA at community and outreach events
Communications & Marketing Support
- Assist with mission-driven messaging across fundraising, website, and reporting materials
- Ensure transparency and accountability in donor communications
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor development staff, volunteers, or committees
- Report regularly on fundraising results and progress to the City Academy Board
- Model Christ-centered professionalism and integrity
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of fundraising or development leadership experience
- Proven success in donor engagement and revenue growth
- Strong communication and grant writing skills
- Experience in education, nonprofit, or faith-based organizations preferred
- Deep personal alignment with Christian education and CAA’s mission
