Job Description

The goal of a Coach at Stonehaven is to train and nurture Christian character into the souls of our children. Our coaches are not forming and shaping a person that can do something but rather a person that can be someone. We are training students for God's calling on their life, preparing them well through a Christ-centered classical education and athletic competition to fulfill their calling for the honor and glory of God. 

We are accepting applications for a part-time Varsity / JV Girls Volleyball Coach for the season running August 2023 - October 2023. Key attributes and job responsibilities are as follows: 

Candidate Attributes

  • Devoted to consistent reading and study of God’s word and prayer.
  • Strives to consistently exhibit love, joy, peace, and spiritual maturity in their daily work and relationships with others in the school community.
  • All staff members will strive to maintain a faithful daily walk with Christ and be active in a local Protestant church.

Job Responsibilities

  • Host a student interest meeting during the spring, at which time basic information on the upcoming season is explained and distributed
  • Organize student participation in summer open gyms, practices during the season, and games
  • Work with team parent-volunteer Team Administrator to ensure that all parents receive timely communication
  • Maintain a disciplined and orderly team environment
  • Report schedules and results of games to internal staff for school communication
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children
  • Nurture, love, and guide the students with Biblical principles of competition
  • Dress professionally and appropriately as outlined in the staff handbook
  • Enforce Stonehaven’s discipline policy as outlined in the staff handbook
  • Communicate as needed with parents regarding athlete’s progress and behavior

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have coaching experience with a demonstrated passion for training students at the high school level.

  • Accepts without verbal or mental reservations The Stonehaven School’s Statement of Faith and Academic Philosophy and is committed to upholding both.
  • Serves Christ under the authority of a local Protestant Christian church whose beliefs and teachings are in fundamental agreement with The Stonehaven School’s Statement of Faith.
  • It is expected that the coaches will comply with all applicable policies of The Stonehaven School and with all administrative directives.
  • Coaches at The Stonehaven School are expected to possess a love for God, a love for the students they teach, a love for the sport they are coaching, a love for the parents they serve, and a love for the school.
