The Line Cook prepares and cooks food to order in a timely fashion providing an exceptional dining experience for all guests.
Prepares/cooks food items and dishes using grill, flat top, oven, fryer, steamer, toaster/salamander, small kitchen appliances, and kitchen utensils including various knives.
Prepares food following all recipes as written; Follows all kitchen portion control measures.
Makes cooking adjustments to accommodate guest requests.
Maintains relevant kitchen documentation; Prepares prep work, thawing, and stocking lists.
Performs shift preparation, nightly shutdowns, and cleaning duties; Cleans and organizes kitchen, cooking line, and work station.
Performs kitchen operations and procedures in accordance with sanitation regulations and guidelines.
Organizes refrigerators and cooking line.
Other duties as assigned.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs cleaning tasks as necessary.
May be required to assist with food running, bussing, dishwashing, and other related tasks.
May be required to work extra shifts or hours.
Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs.
Works extra shifts and hours as required.
Assists in other departments as needed.
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Ability to use kitchen appliances and utensils.
Food preparation and food safety knowledge.
Able to read, write and understand English.
Have or obtain required certifications upon hire.
The ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
Ability to learn all company training materials.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Climb stairs and walk on uneven, sometimes slippery surfaces.
Stand constantly and move on feet quickly for extended periods of time.
Kneel, bend, stoop and squat repetitively.
Turn and twist frequently.
Reach down, forward and overhead.
Able to work in hot areas of kitchen (around dishwasher, ovens, cooking equipment) and cold areas (walk in refrigerators and freezers).
Use small kitchen utensils and appliances such as mixer, ovens, dishwasher, steamer, flat top, grill, fryer, knives, whisks, etc.
Able to use kitchen cleaning supplies.
Lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
One year of cooking work experience, preferably in the Hospitality Industry
Culinary degree or related coursework preferred
