Grand Canyon Lodge at North Rim is located at an elevation of 8000 feet. Your ability and willingness to work at a high elevation and a remote location are important factors in our hiring process.
The Pantry Cook prepares food orders accurately and in a timely fashion, keeps items stocked and sufficient prep back stocked for their stations, and helps keep the kitchen clean and orderly.
Prepare/cook high quality menu items timely, in a high volume and fast-paced kitchen; Follows all recipes as written.
Cook, heat, prepare and adequately stock food stations; Ensures continuous food availability to guests.
Maintains proper food supplies required for the smooth operations of each pantry station.
Fills out and updates prep sheets as necessary.
Keeps pantry stations and prep areas clean and organized.
Follows food preparation, stocking, and cleaning procedures.
Performs all kitchen operations and procedures in accordance with sanitation regulations and guidelines.
Knows and follows all Environmental, Health, Recycling, and Safety policies and practices.
Any other duties as assigned.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists with other kitchen duties and functions as needed.
Assists grill cook with prep and cooking as needed.
May be required to assist with food running, bussing, dishwashing, and other related tasks.
Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs.
Works extra shifts and hours as required.
Assists in other departments as needed.
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Read, write and understand English.
Have or obtain required certification upon hire.
Knowledge of sanitary and safe food handling.
Knowledge of food preparation including washing, cutting, chopping food items.
Good customer service skills.
Able to work individually and effectively as part of a team.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
Able to work quickly, efficiently and cooperatively and handle high volumes during peak hours in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to learn all company training materials.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Climb stairs and walk on uneven, sometimes slippery surfaces.
Stand/remain upright standing in place for extended periods of time.
Stand, move on feet quickly for extended periods of time.
Bend, kneel, stoop and squat as needed.
Twist and turn frequently.
Reach down, forward and overhead.
Able to work in hot areas of kitchen (around dishwasher, ovens, cooking equipment) and cold areas (walk in refrigerators and freezers).
Use small kitchen utensils and appliances such as mixer, ovens, dishwasher, steamer, flat top, grill, fryer, knives, whisks, etc.
Able to use kitchen cleaning supplies.
Lift up to 50 pounds.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One year prior kitchen and food prep work experience
3-6 months of prior kitchen cleaning work experience
