Grand Canyon Lodge at North Rim is located at an elevation of 8000 feet. Your ability and willingness to work at a high elevation and a remote location are important factors in our hiring process.
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for training, developing and supervising the housekeeping staff.
Insures an attractive and clean facility for guests in rooms and all public areas including offices and supply closets.
Determine schedules and work assignments for Housekeeping staff.
Ensure that ready rooms are promptly reported to the front desk.
Coordinate linen handling.
Ensure employees are adequately trained; Enforce correct use of chemicals and equipment.
Comply with and ensure compliance with key security procedures.
Provide mid and final season performance evaluations of all housekeeping personnel.
Provide room maintenance histories and determine capital improvement requests.
Must have a good understanding of policies; Follow Department instructions on opening and closing procedures.
Verify payroll hours for all housekeeping personal.
Initiate corrective action; retrain, coach, discipline, etc. as necessary.
MARGINAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs.
Works extra shifts and hours as required.
Assists in other departments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Able to read, write and understand English and follow cleaning and other instructions, complete checklists and communicate with guests.
Knowledge of proper use of cleaning chemicals, supplies and cleaning procedures and techniques.
Self-motivated and appropriate time management skills to complete tasks on time with little or no supervision.
Attention to detail and cleaning standards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Ability to perform manual physical labor inside and outside even in inclement weather.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Climb stairs, ladders, walk on a variety of surfaces and stand for extended periods of time.
Kneel; bend; stoop; turn/twist; and reach down, forward and overhead repetitively.
Push and Push a cart on inclining/declining surfaces.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
High School diploma or GED required
Previous housekeeping and management experience required
Prior domestic or commercial housekeeping experience preferred
Prior work experience with, and knowledge of, cleaning chemicals and supplies
