Job Description
The Opportunity:
Flywire is seeking a Senior SRE / Cloud Platform Engineer to own, scale and secure the underlying cloud infrastructure powering our high-stakes payment intelligence and data platforms. You will serve as the cloud infrastructure anchor for our data engineering and AI initiatives, establishing best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD and platform reliability across AWS and GCP, reporting into the team led by our Hiring Manager, Roberto.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Lead the design, modularization and deployment of global cloud environments using Terraform across AWS and GCP, establishing enterprise-grade IaC best practices.
Platform Reliability & Observability: Define, monitor and enforce SLIs, SLOs and alerting frameworks for underlying data platforms to minimize MTTR and maximize uptime.
DevOps & CI/CD Automation: Architect robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration with Fargate and zero-manual-intervention deployment workflows.
Data Platform Enablement: Work with Data Engineering teams to provide secure, scalable cloud environments for Airflow, dbt, streaming feeds (Pub/Sub, Beam) and AI integrations.
Security & Cost Governance: Automate cloud access policies (RBAC/ABAC), network security and cost optimization for resource-heavy data workloads.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring:
Experience: 5+ years in SRE, DevOps or Cloud Platform Engineering, with proven experience building production cloud infrastructure at scale.
Deep Terraform Expertise: Master-level hands-on experience using Terraform to manage multi-account/multi-project setups in AWS and GCP.
Observability & Reliability: Strong experience setting up logging, monitoring and alerting frameworks (e.g. Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch).
CI/CD & Containers: Strong expertise with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Docker, including serverless container orchestration with Fargate.
Data Context: Experience provisioning or maintaining infrastructure for data tooling (e.g. PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, Airflow, Kafka/PubSub) and basic proficiency in Python or Bash scripting.
Location: Based within a short commutable distance of Valencia, as this role requires regular weekly hybrid presence in our office.
