Job Description

The Opportunity:

We, at Flywire, are seeking a Billing Specialist in India.

Billing Specialist roles are not your typical billing positions. As a key member of the Finance Operations team, you play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely billing while supporting a seamless customer experience. Your attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to operational excellence help drive billing accuracy and process efficiency across the organization.

As part of this role, you will work closely with Finance, Sales, Customer Success, and other cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment where growth, change, and continuous improvement are the norm. Strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach are essential, as your day-to-day responsibilities involve managing billing requests, resolving customer inquiries, and supporting process enhancements. You will be expected to anticipate common questions or issues, proactively identify solutions, and provide guidance before they escalate, while remaining flexible as processes and systems continue to evolve.

You will be primarily responsible for reviewing customer contract details to ensure billing accuracy and timely invoice generation. In addition, you will support the transition of customer billing activities from legacy processes to automated CPQ workflows, helping improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability across billing operations. You will conduct daily follow-ups on unresolved requests through email, Slack, and ZenDesk, ensuring prompt resolution and a positive customer experience.

As a Billing Specialist, you will also support month-end and quarter-end close activities, maintain compliance with internal controls by assisting with SOX reporting requirements, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure billing processes are accurate, compliant, and continuously improving. Your ability to navigate ambiguity, embrace change, and contribute to process optimization will be key in delivering a reliable, efficient, and customer-focused billing experience.

You will

  • Review customer contract details, ensuring accuracy for timely billing

  • Transition customer billings from legacy processes to automated CPQ processes

  • Conduct daily follow-up with previously unresolved requests by email, Slack, and/or ZenDesk

  • Perform month-end and quarter-end activities

  • Support SOX reporting requirements

Qualifications

Here’s What We’re Looking For:

  •  2+ years of billing or Finance experience

  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Anticipates common questions or issues, proactively offering tailored suggestions to resolve them before they further escalate

  • Highly flexible and open to ambiguity, change in processes and procedures, as the company grows and evolves
