This individual must be a great teammate that strives for continuous improvement, has an eagerness to learn and feels comfortable working within a larger global team.

Our Risk Management team protects our business from chargeback related losses, whether from the financial failure of a client, fraudulent transactions or cardholder disputes about the goods or services that our clients have provided. These FlyMates will have strong technical skills, and a deep understanding of the inherent risks involved in processing payments across the different business verticals we work with (Education, Travel, Healthcare and B2B) and how to mitigate them. This position will own the development of the Credit Policy and deployment of risk measurement tools within the Flywire business.

The person in this role will manage credit risk underwriting for new and existing card processing clients, transactional monitoring, risk policies and procedures and associated management information. He or she will also continually focus on streamlining the onboarding experience for the benefit of our clients.

Primary responsibilities for the position are to approve individual client credit (chargebacks) risk (within delegated authority) and monitor ongoing transactional risks, applying appropriate risk mitigants to protect the business from loss. This will include maintaining an overall view of the total processing risk exposure, with regular reporting to executive management.

The Opportunity:

  • Create and author our credit risk policy program from the ground up. This person will need to be a manager who is also a hands-on executor and writer.

  • Remain current with industry standard methodologies and current card scheme (Amex/MC/UnionPay/Visa etc) rules, initiating any required changes into Flywire’s established policies, standards and procedures

  • Assist Sales and Relationship Management teams to identify the risk profiles and potential mitigants for their clients

  • Undertake transactional & ongoing risk exposure monitoring across the full client book to identify and proactively lead any adverse movement in Flywire’s risk exposure

  • Manage and respond to all card processing risk related queries and issues raised by the card schemes or our acquirers

  • Assess and remediate any internal control gaps relating to card processing risks (chargeback, credit, fraud etc), seeking every opportunity to minimize client friction

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

  • Some experience gained in a data driven decisioning environment
