We are looking for an Engineering Manager (m/f/d) for our Dispatching team. You will be in charge of building the dispatching solution that will power the efficient delivery of all Flink orders! 

Job Description

Our Dispatching System is the heart and brain of our order fulfillment process. The system automatically manages the packing and delivery of tens of thousands of orders in 3 countries daily. Our backend engineers are continuously improving dispatching algorithms to optimise delivery time and efficiency.

  • Drive the delivery of business outcomes for your team, including planning and execution
  • Apply pragmatic solutions, find the right tradeoffs and seek to reduce complexity to help teams deliver solutions that meet the business needs.
  • Drive external and internal hiring, develop our engineering talent into new challenges and roles, establish a feedback culture within the team, manage the performance of team members and ensure we retain our top engineering talent
  • Translate product and business vision into a technology vision and strategy for your team including the and architectural direction and execute against that vision with your team
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of software (you build it, you run it), including team ownership of monitoring and incident management of production issues
  • Keep product and engineering quality high and continuously identify and resolve technical debt, quality issues and gaps in engineering practises
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices
  • Create a healthy culture of collaboration and inclusion, lead by example in line with the engineering and company values
  • Focus on applying best-in-class industry practices to continue to raise the bar on providing developer delight and speed of delivery for the teams

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience as an engineering leader mentoring and growing successful teams
  • You have previous Backend/Data Engineer experience with Go, Java, TypeScript or other OO or functional languages and a familiarity with optimization algorithms or techniques, and in particular with the challenges of applying them in real-world settings
  • A bias towards action, with the ability to make the tradeoffs between delivering outcomes and making things perfect
  • A strong interest in the actual customer and business problems to solve
  • A desire to build a diverse team that wins together and prioritizes success
  • Significant experience in applying different architectures patterns like microservices, event-driven systems, micro frontends, etc.
  • Being a good listener, but also argue for the cause when needed
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to deal with change
  • Highly self-driven, professional personality with an aspiration to excel in your role
  • Capable of taking a helicopter view of things to get the big picture while getting into details when needed, but understands when it is appropriate in doing so
  • Fluency in English
