Job Description

Flink is currently looking for a Global Head of Last Mile Operations located in the Headquarters in Berlin. In this role you are responsible for the workforce operations in all of our markets . This last mile transport is done via employed riders on e-bikes.

You will manage all elements within Last Mile Operations - from business and budget planning, growth strategies, process automation and enabling excellent and efficient support services for our teams across the country.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the last mile operations team with 30 people within 5 sub-teams - 
  1. Workforce Planning  
  2. Workforce Growth
  3. Workforce Care
  4. Workforce Engagement
  5. Automation
  • Ensure business-critical processes are automated whenever possible, and aligned between throughout the business. This includes:
  1. Scheduling
  2. Reporting
  3. Fraud detection
  4. Payroll
  • Counterpart for HR, Payroll teams, Hub processes, Data science, Product management
  • Own and manage the biggest P&L cost line item (after COGS): workforce costs (including recruitmentmarketing)
  • Responsibility for >15,000 employed riders, pickers and inventory associates across our markets 
  • Manage the operational budget for labour, equipment, and investments
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure our service level and efficiency KPIs are balanced
  • Use analytics to build a business that can sustainably scale
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, and challenge the product teams on improvements. For example optimising the flow of rider communication, reviewing efficiency in acquisition, improving rider safety and much more.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years work experience, demonstrating problem solving abilities in a high-growth environment 
  • A quantitative mindset and strong analytical skills - experience in management consulting, analytics, data science, or product management is a plus
  • Experience in managing a large, dynamic and international team
  • Fluent in English, German is a plus
  • Experience in SQL and Python is a plus
  • Excellent skills in communication, stakeholder management and prioritisation
  • Analytical and hands-on mindset - it comes natural to you to challenge the status quo and come up with pragmatic and efficient solutions
