We are currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic Scientist in the Systems Engineering group at Five Prime Therapeutics. This is an exciting opportunity to design, build, and support exceptional technologies that enable cutting edge science and empower researchers to accelerate the discovery and development of novel protein and antibody drugs.
Lead innovation, technology development projects:
- Explore, prototype, develop/procure new enabling technologies (robotic automation, microfluidics, tissue imaging, bio-analytical sensors, etc.) for high throughput biologics experimentation.
Collaborate with researchers to adapt existing or develop new cell/tissue based and bio-physical assays for miniaturization and ultra-high throughput experimentation.
Support operations in a state-of-the-art robotics and microfluidics lab:
Partner with automation engineers, scientists, and research associates to design and develop protocols to conduct biological and bio-chemical experiments on automation platforms.
Integrate and support analytical instruments such as plate readers, high content imagers, PCR instruments, multiplexed assay instruments, etc. in automated workflows.
Collaborate with researchers and the data integration team to develop protocols and informatics workflows that automate large-scale sample tracking, data capture and analysis, and visualization.
Other projects when assigned
Ph.D. in Biomedical engineering, Bio Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline with 0-2 years relevant work experience.
Experience with cell culture processes and cell based assays.
Experience with tissue imaging, high content imaging and image analysis workflows.
Familiarity with microfluidic technologies such as droplet microfluidics for biologic applications.
Familiarity with analytical instruments such as multi-mode plate readers, high content imagers, PCR equipment, tissue imagers, and NGS.
Effective communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills.
