At Clarus, we're helping deliver the energy New Zealand relies on every day. Through Rockgas, we own and operate a nationwide LPG network that supports homes, businesses and communities across the country.
We're looking for a LPG Project Engineer to join our LPG Engineering team. This is a varied role where you'll combine engineering expertise, project delivery and asset stewardship to help keep our LPG infrastructure safe, reliable and fit for the future.
The role
Reporting to the Manager, LPG Engineering, you'll provide technical leadership across Rockgas' LPG storage, distribution and reticulation assets. You'll work closely with operations teams, contractors, customers and regulators to deliver projects, maintain critical infrastructure and drive continuous improvement across our network.
Key areas of focus:
- Asset Integrity and Reliability - Ensuring LPG assets remain safe, compliant and reliable through effective maintenance, asset management and engineering support.
- Project Delivery and Infrastructure Development - Leading bulk tank installations, site upgrades and engineering projects from design through to delivery.
- Safety, Risk and Compliance -Supporting regulatory compliance, risk management, incident investigations and Major Hazard Facility activities.
- Stakeholder and Contractor Management - Working alongside contractors, customers, regulators and industry partners to achieve safe, high-quality outcomes.
- Technical Leadership and Continuous Improvement - Providing specialist engineering advice while improving standards, procedures and asset performance across the business.
This is a Southern region role that will require travel from time to time.
Qualifications
About you:
You'll be a practical, solutions-focused engineer who enjoys managing projects, solving technical challenges and building strong relationships. You'll bring:
- Relevant engineering, mechanical or technical qualifications and/or equivalent industry experience
- Experience in utilities, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing or other regulated environments
- Proven project management experience
- Strong contractor and stakeholder management capability
- Knowledge of health, safety and engineering compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A customer-focused approach and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and accountability
Experience with LPG, gas infrastructure, pressure equipment or Major Hazard Facilities would be advantageous, but is not essential.
