Company Description
What is our story?
At Clarus Group you’ll be part of the talented, hardworking team who help safely deliver the vital energy New Zealand needs to thrive today and in the future. We began in Taranaki and our head office is in New Plymouth, but our Rockgas, Firstgas, Firstlight, Flexgas and Gas Service NZ operations span the length and breadth of Aotearoa — so you’re never far away from our good energy. Clarus Group is helping drive sustainability by laying the foundations for the decarbonisation of our network and developing green alternatives like New Zealand’s first renewable biomethane and hydrogen pipeline projects. We care about the communities where we live and work and are guided by principles of inclusiveness, kaitiakitanga and excellence.

- Producing product, sales and margin reporting across regions and channels
- Supporting essential compliance activities such as year-end audit prep, GST, FBT, Statistics NZ, MBIE and NZTA returns
- Leading the Rockgas budgeting and forecasting processes
- Spotting opportunities to simplify, automate or improve financial processes and systems, and supporting or leading improvement initiatives
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
Along with being a great team player who brings initiative, positivity and a sense of fun, you’ll have:
- A tertiary accounting/finance qualification and CA membership
- Strong commercial accounting experience
- Solid understanding of management, financial, regulatory and tax reporting
- Excellent knowledge of accounting standards
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Advanced Excel capability
- Great stakeholder and relationship management skills
- Clear, confident communication and a practical, solutions‑focused approach
- Curiosity, commercial awareness and a drive to deeply understand how a business works
Experience supporting a Business Unit or providing finance services across multiple teams would be an advantage.
