Mātau roopu ake (About us)

At Clarus you’ll be part of the talented, hardworking team who help safely deliver the vital energy New Zealand needs to thrive today and in the future. We began in Taranaki, but our Rockgas, Firstgas, Firstlight, First Renewables, Flexgas and Gas Service NZ operations now span the length and breadth of Aotearoa — so you’re never far away from our good energy. Clarus is investing in opportunities to develop greener alternatives to natural gas and LPG - like partnering with Ecogas to deliver New Zealand’s first renewable biomethane project, and working with other gas distributors to trial hydrogen blending. We care about the communities where we live and work and are guided by principles of inclusiveness, kaitiakitanga and excellence.

Job Description

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi (About the position)

We’re looking for a Pipeline Field Technician to bring some good energy to the Northern Field Team.  This is a great role for someone who loves getting outdoors on the road and in the field, and interacting with landowners (you'll know a thing or two about farming).

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to learn the ropes so you can:

  • Carry out pipeline surveillance including aerial, vehicle and foot surveys
  • Provide routine and non-routine mechanical and easement pipeline maintenance services on gas transmission pipelines and stations
  • Take charge of site operations during the construction phase of station or pipeline installation or modifications
  • Provide mechanical technician support when needed in day to day gas transmission activity.
  • Authorise and survey the activities of 3rd parties working near pipeline easements
  • Assist with non-routine operational services such as pipeline construction, pigging and commissioning
  • On occasion, undertake geotechnical monitoring

This role covers the Auckland region, from Forest Hill Road Henderson to Marsden Point.  Working from home, you can also expect to spend time at our Auckland and Hamilton offices, and across the beautiful North Island from time to time.

Qualifications

Ko wai koe (About you)

As well as being an awesome team member who brings a 'can do' attitude and good energy to everything you do, you will have strong communication and relationship building skills.

An ability to work independently as well as part of our dispersed team is important, along with a full, clean drivers licence.

It would be helpful if you had a good understanding of basic farm practices, and mechanically minded.
