Do you enjoy getting out and about?
We are on the search for a Field Technician to join our talented First Gas team.  This role covers Manawatu and the wider area, however expect to spend time at our head office in Bell Block and across the beautiful North Island from time to time.

Bring your strong communication skills, can-do attitude and focus on safety to this challenging and interesting environment.  No two days are the same and that’s how we like it out in the field.   If you love getting outdoors, know your way around the farm and are mechanically minded then read on. 

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to learn the ropes so you can:

  • Carry out pipeline surveillance including aerial, vehicle and foot surveys
  • Provide routine and non-routine mechanical and easement pipeline maintenance services on gas transmission pipelines and stations
  • Take charge of site operations during the construction phase of station or pipeline installation or modifications
  • Provide mechanical technician support when needed in day to day gas transmission activity.
  • Authorise and survey the activities of 3rd parties working near pipeline easements
  • Assist with non-routine operational services such as pipeline construction, pigging and commissioning
  • On occasion, undertake geotechnical monitoring

You'll ideally be centrally based in the Manawatu area to be able to support our assets in this region.

Qualifications

You will have:

  • A commitment to safety – it’s our priority, and will need to be yours
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Mechanical/engineering trade preferred (but not essential)
  • Good understanding of basic farming practices
  • A willingness to learn, develop and share knowledge
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • A Can Do attitude 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a close knit team
