Job Description

SUMMARY

Obtains and records financial data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Sort, scan, and electronically file processed AP documents.
  • Codes and prepares invoices for data entry.
  • Enters accounts payable invoices to the system for payment.
  • Enters material receiving information into purchase orders.
  • Prepares manual and computer generated checks.
  • Answers vendor inquiries.
  • Process weekly and monthly check runs.
  • Filing of vendor invoice packages.
  • Assist on projects throughout the Accounts Payable Department.
  • Standard clerical duties as needed.

Qualifications

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises zero employees in the accounting department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Experience with operating common office equipment including: 10 key calculator, touch method with speed and accuracy, computer knowledge keyboard skills, touch method with speed and accuracy, copy machine, fax machine, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, Dynamics 2015 and database management preferred. Must be able to alphabetize. Team player with positive attitude.
