Our Opportunity

We are currently accepting resumes from motivated individuals who would like to join our team as Silviculture Forester or TechnicianYour primary task will be to support the Silviculture Team in the implementation of our silviculture program.  With respect and an emphasis on client satisfaction, you will work along side other foresters and technicians in the delivery of a large-scale silviculture program in the northeastern and southeastern Ontario.  Working closely with your counter parts and those responsible for the overall management of the forest, you will be empowered to communicate actively and frequently with our clients, your colleagues and team members.  It goes without saying that you will have an innate curiosity about Boreal and Great Lakes St-Lawrence Forest conditions and silviculture.  You want to know or know how to use drones to be more efficient in a competitive environment.  You are thorough and always want to do the right thing.  You understand that silviculture is a critical component of forest products supply chain management, and you take your role in it very seriously.

What you offer

  • You have experience, appreciation, curiosity and knowledge about silvics, stand dynamics, development and growth of trees, founded on a broad understanding of the forest ecosystem, its hydrology, soils and ecology.
  • Your GIS skills are good, and you don’t mind using GIS to make yourself more efficient.
  • You have more than 3 years of relevant experience and you’re at home in the outdoors.
  • You communicate well (speak and write) in English but you understand that bilingualism is an advantage in northeastern Ontario.
  • Doing the right thing, all of the time, is your personal commitment.
  • You are authentic, autonomous, and self-motivated.
  • Your colleagues want you on their team.
  • You consider herbicide alternatives to be a purposeful part of a leading-edge silviculture program.

 

Who should you be or become?

You are, or on your way to becoming confident and capable of supervising silviculture contractors, developing silviculture prescriptions and completing field work.    You are inquisitive and resourceful. You ask “why questions” to get definitive answers and have excellent communication skills. Detail-oriented, you think ahead, to catch errors or mistakes before they develop into serious problems for you and our clients! You have the motivation to deal with situations quickly and efficiently.  You like goals and you are prepared to set them for yourself.  You are able to communicate and take criticism from your peers and our clients, always with the objective of improving yourself and your service delivery.
