Job Description

The Geomatics Specialist will produce and deliver forestry information to our industry and government clients and put your programming knowledge and technical expertise to work by assisting with our ongoing R&D efforts.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Gather spatial data and property information on buildings and other structures, for example, bridges, dams, tunnels, and refineries.
  • Assist in developing methods and procedures for conducting field surveys.
  • Link spatial data to various tabular data for land administration purposes.
  • Perform calculations and field layouts for horizontal, vertical, and spiral curves.
  • Conduct detailed surveys on projects such as highways, urban streets, and railways
  • Produce thematic maps.
  • Plan and conduct control surveys for mapping purposes.
  • Create and process digital databases to compile geographical information in numerical and graphical formats.

Qualifications

  • Relevant education or equivalent work experience in Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems or Computer Science with a very strong programming component.
  • Ability to run and maintain large data processing pipelines.
  • Prior experience of handling and processing large geospatial datasets (both raster and vector).
  • ESRI software – ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap, ArcCatalog), ArcGIS Pro, Spatial Analyst.
  • Python programming and ability to develop customized editing tools in ArcGIS.
  • Knowledgeable in using SQL and other programming languages to build queries in ArcGIS, relational databases and in geodatabases.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Access.
