Job Description

The purpose of the job is to lead a team of Senior Analyst and Analyst in preparing, reviewing and getting approval for structured of credit facilities for a portfolio of CCB Clients  

Generic Accountability

  • To ensure that best in class Credit Policies and Programs are in place.
  • To ensure that effective portfolio monitoring mechanism and processes are in place. 
  • To ensure efficiency, reliability and speed in Credit Governance. 
  • To guide team of Senior Analyst and Analyst on structuring of Credit facilities to ensure that all deals are structured in a sound and robust manner.   Advises team on the risk factors associated with complex transactions, and the clauses imperative in mitigating these.
  • Guide and Oversees the due diligence process for prospective deals in collaboration with Coverage and Product teams to ensure that emerging risk factors are identified and addressed in the Credit Proposal.    
  • Make recommendation to Credit Committees to take on assets which meets Bank’s Risk Acceptance criteria and policy Guidelines. 
  • To deal with Internal & External auditor’s reports and take appropriate steps to close all the observations / issues raised in these reports.  Meet Internal and External auditors, as and when required, to discuss portfolio related queries.  
  • To coordinate with other departments of the bank (e.g. Risk, Finance, TB, Operations etc.) on various Credit and allied issues on behalf of CIB Credit. 
  • Ensure accuracy of data being presented to various stakeholders including senior management
  • Recommend amendments to the Bank’s credit policy, procedures, Risk Rating models, credit memorandums, risk criteria etc based on lending experience and market expediencies ensuring it is aligned with overall Bank’s risk strategy & policy
  • To ensure that team member’ remains engaged by maintaining appropriate workload balance across the team, motivating them to perform well, recognizing their efforts and providing feedback on regular basis.      
  • To coordinate with the Learning & Development Department to ensure that suitable training opportunities are provided to the team members, from time to time, to enhance their skills and abilities. 
  • To coordinate with IT to ensure that new technologies are launched from time to time to improve the productivity and efficiency of the Credit function of the bank. 

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • To Guide the team of Senior Analyst and Analyst in preparing of comprehensive credit papers clearly outlining key risks, mitigations and recommendation for presentation to Credit Committee for prospective and existing clients under assigned portfolio
  • To coordinates with Coverage teams in advance to discuss deal pipeline of new / interim proposals, due dates of annual reviews so as to obtain necessary information to facilitate a comprehensive review of the credit facilities.
  • Ensure the team that the turnaround time to process credit application is as per agreed SLAs with CIB.
  • Participate in (large, complex) client relationships through client visits / conference calls as part of transaction initiation and monitoring
  • Oversee the portfolio on regular basis to ensure that it remains healthy and all the terms & conditions approved are being complied with.   
  • Monitor early warning indicators in order to identify potential problem accounts and liaise with Business Units for ensuring suitable action plans are in place to rectify the situation at an early stage.
  • Maintain appropriate workload balance across the team of analysts.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree.  
  • Desirable: - Chartered Accountant/ Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or any other relevant finance degree or diploma.  

Minimum Experience

  • 15 years’ relevant experience in the banking sector with at least 10 years in similar positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities in the Credit function.
